Joy Division

Joy Division were an English rock band (originally named “Warsaw”), one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement in the 1970s. The band was active from 1976 to 1980 when Ian Curtis committed a suicide at the age of 23, after which the band was renamed to New Order.  Joy Division had a unique style and sound combining punk, hard-rock and avant-garde elements that influenced various musicians and contributed to the creation of modern music styles, including dark wave, new wave and alternative rock.

Joy Division’s main albums include:

  • An Ideal for Living (1978)
  • Unknown Pleasures (1979)
  • Closer (1980)

My favorite songs include:

  • No Love Lost
  • She Lost Control
  • Heart and Soul
  • Love Will Tear Us Apart
